While heredity is the main trigger for spider and varicose veins, obesity, hormonal changes and some medications can also lead to spider veins. It is the twisting and breaking of veins under the skin that leads to spider veins.

Spider veins are not actually painful; however many people look for spider vein treatment to enhance their personal appearance and not for health reasons. The right treatment option is decided based on the severity of the spider vein problem.

Legs stocking is a spider vein treatment that helps alleviate the symptom of varicose veins by wearing the stockings on the leg, especial on the upper thigh. In case of severe varicose or spider vein problems, your doctor may suggest using sclerotherapy, surgery or insertion of lasers into the vein.

In case of another treatment option called sclerotherapy, saline is used to destroy the veins. Here, a saline mixture is injected directly into the veins to destroy the vein. This eliminates the spider vein, and is not harmful as the vein is usually useless or near useless during sclerotherapy.

Surgery is not a recommended spider vein treatment as the veins are too small to undergo surgery. However if there is a large varicose vein near the spider veins that needs surgery, there is a high possibility that the spider veins will disappear after that surgery.

It is however possible to treat spider veins using light or laser therapy. With this spider vein treatment, heat energy is used for destroying all the spider veins, and thus rid you of your problem.

Another point to remember to treat spider veins is to consider making lifestyle changes. This means you have to make changes to your diet to help you lose weight, and also follow a regular exercise regime. By reducing weight, you will create a positive effect on the spider veins.

Looking at the many spider vein treatment options you have for treating your spider vein problem, it is left to you and your doctor to decide which option is best for you. -Alwaysyouthful-bp-Jan19th
