What is a Brow Lift?
In Houston brow lift patients are treated for sagging, loose skin, fine lines, and wrinkles around the forehead and brows. As we age, this area of our face tends to droop and sag, often giving us much older appearance than what we actually are. Double board-certified Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Schusterman will examine your brow area and help you determine what cosmetic procedure is correct for you. In your consultation, you explain your ideal body goals and work together to achieve stunning results.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
We know that choosing any cosmetic procedure is a personal choice, and Dr. Schusterman wants you to be as informed and comfortable as possible. One way to determine if you are ready for a brow lift is to do the following steps:
- Stand in front of a mirror.
- Gently pull your forehead skin up towards your hairline.
- Return your skin to its original position and relax your face.
Now find the answer to this question:
“When your skin was pulled back…”
- Were your eyes less droopy?
- Did it ‘erase’ your wrinkles and help the fine lines?
- Did you appear younger without the forehead wrinkles?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you should consider a brow lift by Dr. Mark Schusterman.
What is an Endotine Forehead Lift?
Dr. Schusterman is a leader in bringing his patients the latest technology and skills. The Endotine is a medical device (approved by the U.S. FDA) to be inserted into the forehead to lift the skin tissue.
The Endotine Lift benefits:
- Improves the look of deep wrinkles and is proven to work better than botox and lasers
- Invisible scar – the incision made is so tiny that it is hidden within the hairline and undetectable once healed.
- Semi-permanent, whereas a traditional brow lift will last 1-2 years
- The Endotine implant dissolves over time through absorption and has lasting effects.
- Short surgery time – 40-50 minutes
- Recovery time is immediate, and there is no downtime.
Brow Lift Procedure
There are various techniques used for this procedure. Houston brow lift provider Dr. Schusterman will determine which method is suitable for you during your consultation. The brow lift techniques include:
Endoscopic brow lift
During an Endoscopic Brow Lift, several small incisions are made behind the hairline. Dr. Schusterman will then insert an endoscope through the incision to see the tissues and muscles underneath. Working with an additional instrument through another incision, Dr. Schusterman will lift and pull tight the tissues and anchor them in place with sutures or small screws. The incision is then closed.
Coronal brow lift
The incision for the Coronal brow lift will be placed behind your hairline, across the top of your head, and from ear to ear. Your forehead is lifted and positioned carefully, with the scalp of the incision overlapping the scalp behind it. The overlapping scalp is excised, and the new scalp is sewn in place.
Hairline brow lift
Typically the hairline brow lift is for patients with high or receding hairlines. The incision is made between the top of the head, the forehead, and the start of your hairline. Small amounts of skin and tissues are removed from the top of your forehead instead of your scalp, so the hairline is not required to be pulled back.
Brow Lift Recovery
For a traditional brow lift, you can expect your recovery time to be about two weeks. Bandages are removed in 1-3 days, and sutures are removed in 7-10 days.
After your brow lift procedure, your forehead is wrapped to decrease swelling. Some patients may require a small tube for drainage. You are provided with specific post-surgical instructions to speed up recovery and reduce your downtime.
Brow Lift Results
Once the swelling and bruising subside, you will see a more restful and youthful appearance. Make it a priority to minimize sun damage, and enjoy your stunning results.
