What Is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that addresses fine lines, wrinkles, and loose skin around the forehead and brows that make one appear older. This drooping skin can even interfere with your field of vision.

There are several techniques involved with a brow lift. During your consultation with Dr. Schusterman he will consult you on your aesthetic goals and examine the condition of the skin around your brow. From there he will be able to determine the best surgical technique to achieve the results you are looking for.

Procedure for Brow Lift & Eyebrow Lift

A Brow Lift (also known as Eyebrow Lift or Forehead Lift) requires loosening of the skin in their respective areas. Inconspicuous incisions in skin folds or hair-bearing areas allow the adjacent skin to be separated from its underlying muscle.

The skin and underlying muscles are tightened and the area is sutured snugly (fixed) in place, loose bandages are applied and patients usually return home on the day of the surgery. Typically, forehead lift procedures are performed using either local or general anesthesia, in the plastic surgeon’s office, the outpatient facility, or at a hospital.

Brow Lift Candidates

If you have excess skin in your upper eyelids, a drooping eyebrow position, or lines and wrinkles around your eyes and forehead you may be an excellent candidate for a brow lift.

There is a simple test you can do yourself to determine if a brow lift can help. While looking in the mirror, gently lift the skin on your forehead up to your scalp. If these diminishes the drooping of your eyelids and eyebrows around your eyes or reduces the wrinkles in your brow and forehead, you could be an ideal candidate for a brow lift. The best way to determine your candidacy for a brow lift is a consultation with Dr. Schusterman, where you can discuss your medical history and receive a proper examination to determine your candidacy.

After Brow Lift / Eyebrow Lift Surgery

Pain is relieved with oral medications for the first day or two. Bruising and swelling subside in seven to 14 days. The patient will then be able to return to work and social situations but may be advised to avoid the sun and strenuous activities for several weeks. Scars will fade over time and are hidden by the hairline. Results can last up to 15 years.

As with any medical procedure, there are certain risks associated with a forehead lift, which should be discussed with a qualified physician. If you are interested in forehead lift surgery, contact Dr. Schusterman’s plastic surgery center in Houston at (713) 794-0368 today to learn more.

Endotine Forehead Explained

Recently, Dr. Schusterman has been using the Endotine Forehead which is a bioabsorbable implant that simplifies the procedure of tightening the skin and eliminates the need for a cumbersome fixation suture. The device is fast to deploy (reducing operating time), allows for simple and secure adjustment of tension, and gives Dr. Schusterman greater control of brow height and shape for optimized clinical and aesthetic results.
