What is BodyTite?

We all have a need for tighter skin and a slimmer body from time to time. Your image is inextricably linked to your self-confidence, so why wouldn't you want to have the best body for yourself? It's directly helpful. But some people are either afraid or medically incapable of going through with liposuction or a tummy tuck. That's where BodyTite comes in, a procedure which employs the use of precise radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production, effectively allowing skilled surgeons to sculpt your skin into the look you're aiming for without the risks or downtime of more invasive surgical techniques.

BodyTite Can Improve the Appearance of Fatty Deposits and Loose Skin in Common Trouble Spots

  • Pectorals (male breasts)
  • Abdomen (tummy and “love handles”)
  • Arms
  • Breasts
  • Buttocks
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Pubic Mound

How does BodyTite Work?

During a BodyTite liposuction procedure, a hollow tube called a cannula is inserted beneath the skin through a tiny incision. Using an electrode placed on the surface of the skin, an electrical current flows between the tip of the cannula and the electrode, creating a contained field of thermal energy generated by the current. This technique heats and liquefies fat cells, which are then drawn out of the body via a regular liposuction cannula.

To tighten the remaining skin, the radio frequency waves used in the electrical current also stimulate the production of collagen, the natural protein responsible for keeping connective tissue in the skin tight and closely knit. The final result leaves the treated area looking and feeling firmer and more toned.

What Are the Benefits Of BodyTite?

One of the main benefits of BodyTite liposuction over traditional methods is that it's a minimally invasive procedure that only requires tiny incisions. This means patients enjoy several benefits after surgery, including less bruising, pain, and discomfort during the recovery period compared to other surgical procedures.

The risk of scarring and chances of infection are also minimized in less invasive liposuction. The typical recovery time is one to two days, while some patients are able to return to work the day after their procedure thanks to a quick recovery and minimal pain.

Another major advantage of BodyTite liposuction lies in the results. Because the radiofrequency waves not only dissolve unwanted fat but also stimulate the production of collagen, BodyTite liposuction reduces the appearance of cellulite and firms the remaining skin.

Compared to traditional liposuction, the tiny microcannulas used in BodyTite reduce the chance of developing lumps or other irregularities. For some patients who seek a tighter, leaner shape after losing some of their natural skin elasticity, this is a particularly effective solution in areas such as the lower belly and love handles.

What Is Radiofrequency?

Radiofrequency, being a relatively new medical technology (only being in practice since 2001), may be unfamiliar to the public at large. For those left wanting for clarification, radiofrequency is a type of energy, measured on the electromagnetic spectrum.

While it's often used for other things - WiFi, for one - concentrated uses of it have been shown to affect the human anatomy in interesting ways. When a discovery like this is made, the scientific community grinds into action in order to find ways to help it benefit humanity, and now they have, in the form of the BodyTite procedure.

What Areas of the Body Can BodyTite Treat?

While the BodyTite procedure could, in theory, be applied to any part of the body in which fat is produced (so, anywhere, really), there are a number of hotspots that your average surgeon would be willing to treat.

The Arms

A surprisingly common area for fat removal is the limbs, specifically, the arms. Sometimes, fat deposits can build up in the arms and create low hanging flaps of fat that are not only uncomfortable and unsightly but can contribute toward excess sweat production. Removing these flaps with BodyTite is a simple and effective solution to the problem.

The Love Handles

Aside from the abdomen, just above the waist, is a deposit of fat that the average American is all too familiar with- love handles. They can be a real nuisance, and it doesn't feel great to look in the mirror and see a part of yourself hanging over your belt. Remove that issue with cosmetic surgery.

The Chest

For those of us who have fat deposits higher up on their bodies - for instance, “man boobs" in larger gentlemen - know the pain of having useless amounts of fat in a very conspicuous location. That's why many wish to have it removed with the BodyTite procedure. Our skilled surgeon will sculpt and shape a manly, attractive chest with BodyTite.

The Thighs

Some people get really self-conscious about their legs. And there's a good deal of justification in that they're one of the first body parts people notice about you. So, if your thighs are a little too rounded around the edges, then reducing the fat deposits in them might not be too bad an idea. Many men and women suffer from inner thigh fat or thighs that rub together, causing chafing. Our medical expert can correct that with the BodyTite procedure.

The Back

As your abdomen and sides develop fat deposits, your back isn't spared. People who develop fat in their front develop just as much fat on their back. Removing it can be both aesthetically and medically beneficial. With BodyTite, women can reduce bra rolls (also known as bra bulge) and both men and women can get rid of back fat with ease.

The Breasts

A woman's breasts are one of her most auspicious features, and a lot of attention is often paid to them. However, a larger bust size caused by fat deposits can lead to back pain and other health complications. So if the breasts are unseemly or weighed down by unnecessary fat, women often turn to the BodyTite procedure to remove it. As a board-certified Houston plastic surgeon, Dr. Schusterman is highly knowledgeable in regard to cosmetic and reconstruction breast surgery. This has endowed him with considerable knowledge and a careful hand when performing breast reshaping with BodyTite.

We Have 3 Types of Liposuction

To best serve every patient who visits us based on their unique health needs and personal goals, we have three types of liposuction available.

These include tumescent liposuction, laser liposuction, and BodyTite radiofrequency liposuction. While all remove fat with suction, BodyTite has the added benefit of skin tightening. After a thorough examination and a consultation to learn which areas are troubling you, Dr. Schusterman will work with you to determine the best course of treatment to achieve your desired goals.

We Have A Variety Of Body Contouring Treatments To Suit Your Needs

Dr. Schusterman offers many treatment options that can be tailored to your needs. In addition to BodyTite and traditional liposuction, we offer the latest body, face, and breast procedures designed to reshape and refine the target area for the best possible results.

BodyTite vs. Tummy Tuck Surgery

Some people who are considering weight loss procedures decide that the right way for them is liposuction or abdominoplasty (the tummy tuck). While these procedures have their own pros and cons, they're certainly not for everyone. People who don't want scars, are afraid of surgery or have some medical complication that eliminates them from the pool of candidates for these surgeries see BodyTite as an alternative.

A tummy tuck is designed to remove loose skin. While it may remove some body fat along with the skin that is removed, abdominoplasty alone does not generally remove large amounts of fatty tissue; Weight-loss surgery (such as gastric bypass or bariatric surgery), or diet and exercise may be needed for that. Many patients choose to get lipo-abdominoplasty, which combines liposuction and a tummy tuck into one procedure. This allows Dr. Shusterman to surgically refine fat deposits while removing a substantial amount of loose skin that is left behind after extensive liposuction, pregnancy, or major weight loss, all without the need for surgical drains.

BodyTite, on the other hand, is designed to remove small pockets of underlying fat with a far less invasive technique than a tummy tuck, which requires general anesthesia so the skin can be cut away with a surgical scalpel. The downtime and risks are greatly diminished by choosing BodyTite. BodyTite simultaneously tightens the skin that inevitably loosens when the underlying fat is removed. In this way, it is similar to the concept of removing fat and then trimming and suturing the skin closed during tummy tuck surgery, all without having to cut or stitch the skin.

If you have lost a substantial amount of weight and have loose, hanging skin on your tummy, then a tummy tuck with Dr. Shusterman may be the right choice over BodyTite. Our informative consultation process will help you choose the best treatment to meet your needs.

How is BodyTite Different from Traditional Liposuction?

BodyTite liposuction is a minimally invasive lipolysis technique designed to dissolve fatty deposits in targeted areas of the body, while simultaneously tightening the skin - something that traditional liposuction doesn't do.

BodyTite, also known as radio frequency-assisted liposuction, or RFAL, represents a major innovation in the field of body contouring, body sculpting, and liposuction. The procedure is suitable for both men and women who want to get rid of stubborn fatty deposits in localized areas of the body using the most advanced techniques available. Both traditional liposuction, SmartLipo, and BodyTite are available.

What Can BodyTite Surgery Do For Me?

What exactly does the surgery do for you? That's a question that's often asked of the procedure and is fortunately easily answered. The myriad benefits of the BodyTite procedure are apparent to anybody who's actually gone through with the treatment, and the numerous health professionals who employ it on a daily basis.

Tightens Skin

To best serve every patient who visits us based on their unique health needs and personal goals, Dr. Schusterman offers SkinTite. The procedure's main benefit- and the draw which attracts most of the people who choose to undergo the process- is its ability to tighten the skin of its patient.

On top of stimulating collagen production, the skin is physically knitted closer together by firming up the tissue which composes the epidermis. This creates a slimmer, smoother version of your body.

Minimal Downtime

Our specialist surgeon understands that you have a busy life. BodyTite requires very little downtime so you can resume normal activities of daily living soon after treatment. The procedure itself takes a very short time, and the recovery period - a few days long, with 10 days being the absolute longest period of recovery - being incredibly short means that there is an exceptionally short period in which you can't be a functioning member of society.

Non-Surgical

Perhaps the greatest benefit to choosing BodyTite is that you get all of the benefits of other weight-loss cosmetic surgeries but without any of the nasty side effects of real surgery. Reduced recovery time, no scarring, and nothing is intubated or inserted into your body. These are among the biggest perks of treatment. Dr. Schusterman’s aim is to greatly improve your appearance using the least invasive techniques possible.

BodyTite Recovery Time

When can I return to work? When will I be fully recovered? When will I see results? These questions come up often after a BodyTite procedure, and while the recovery time is limited, it isn't completely vanished. Knowing what amount of recovery time is right for you is an essential part of getting cosmetic surgery.

Returning to Work

One of the biggest concerns for people who receive cosmetic surgery is how long they'll be out of work. A legitimate concern- being able to make money is an important part of being a functioning adult. While you will be absent from work for a bare minimum of 2 days, that doesn't mean it's going to be a long absence. The longest you'll be gone from work is one week. Ask your surgeon after your procedure for more details.

BODYTITE FAQ

Now, just because it's safe for almost everyone, doesn't mean it's excluded from having some sort of requirement and criteria for receiving BodyTite therapy. There are some necessary qualifications that a candidate should meet before they consider BodyTite as the right choice for them.

Ideal candidates for BodyTite are adult men and women in good overall health and fitness, but can't eliminate stubborn areas of localized fat deposits through their current diet and exercise routine. Like all liposuction techniques, BodyTite effectively reduces body fat, but it is not a weight loss surgery or fast track to better fitness.

Severely obese patients are typically not good candidates for the procedure until they achieve a healthy body mass index through natural methods, and anyone who undergoes BodyTite liposuction will need to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle post-surgery to maintain their results.

The ideal BodyTite candidate meets the following criteria:

  • Has moderate skin laxity

While this particular pre-requisite might exclude some of the older citizens from consideration, it's important that patients who seek out treatments via the BodyTite procedure have at least moderate skin laxity. Too tight, and the procedure could harm the skin cells, and the same holds true for skin which is too baggy or loose.

  • Is not pregnant

Unfortunately for new mothers, you're out of consideration if you're pregnant. While Radiofrequency energy isn't necessarily harmful to a baby, we don't quite understand the full medical complications when it comes to the unborn enough yet to be able to rule out that it could harm the child, and it's a risk any ethical doctor wouldn't wish to run.

  • Are 10-15 lbs from their target weight

Finally, as BodyTite is not ostensibly a weight loss procedure, it's a necessity that you are not too far from your target weight. BodyTite can do a lot for you, but at the end of the day, hard dieting and exercise may be what you truly need. If you're too far from your target weight, BodyTite won't be able to safely hit that goal. BodyTite is designed to remove small pockets of stubborn body fat that you are having trouble removing despite reaching a stable weight on the scale with proper diet and exercise.

While you'll begin to see results almost immediately - a day or two after the procedure - the best results won't be noticeable until 6-12 weeks. Just like any other cosmetic medical procedure, the specifics are dependent upon the patient as an individual and the details of their particular procedure, but 6-12 weeks is generally an accurate estimate.

Maintaining your new slim form is crucial through the use of workout and dieting, and while food restrictions are minimal, the big question becomes when will you be able to work out again. Usually, it's considered safe to workout again a few days after your recovery period is finished. For details on this particular factor, speak to Dr. Schusterman after the procedure in order to determine how long you should wait.

BodyTite has a short recovery time compared to more invasive treatments. You will be back in the gym much sooner than you would after other types of invasive cosmetic surgery. However, if you do not feel ready to resume a rigorous workout routine despite having medical clearance to do so, it is advisable to wait a few more days and then reassess how you feel at that time. After any cosmetic procedure, it is important not to push the limits. If you feel pain or discomfort, it is not worth compromising your health or results by “pushing through it”. Be patient and allow your body to heal.

Those fat cells that are destroyed during the lipolysis process will not come back. However, BodyTite will not prevent new fat cells from forming if you gain weight. To maintain the result of the BodyTite procedure for the long term, it is important to maintain stable body weight after getting the treatment done.

In a perfect world, we would all maintain an ideal body weight throughout our adult lives. However, it is normal for minor weight fluctuations to occur over time. In the event that you develop a new pocket of fat anywhere on your body in the future, we are here to help. Our body contouring specialists can safely perform repeat treatments if you should need it, as BodyTite is a safe procedure that is not harmful in repeated sessions. It is the perfect solution to smooth and tighten trouble spots anywhere on the body.

In terms of skin tightening, BodyTite helps the skin appear more smooth and taut. However, it will not stop the skin aging process. As the years go by post-treatment, your skin will continue to age. Loss of elasticity is a common problem among older patients. BodyTite can be repeated to touch up the results as needed, however, it cannot transform severely aged, sagging skin into the skin of your youth. We offer a variety of surgical and nonsurgical procedures that can dramatically reverse advanced signs of skin aging when BodyTite is not determined to be the appropriate course of treatment.
