If you are thinking of using Houston Juvederm for wrinkle removal, your cosmetic surgeon or Houston medical spa will do so after asking you your medical history. Inform your doctor about any allergies or medications you take so that your doctor will be able to decide if it safe for you to use Juvederm.
You will also have to inform your doctor if you are taking any medication that will prolong bleeding like aspirin or non-steroidal anti inflammatories (NSAID)s. This is because you have to stop them at least a week before your Juvederm treatment to reduce the risks of bruising and bleeding at injection site.
Besides stopping NSAIDs, you have to avoid strenuous exercise, consumption of alcoholic beverages and giving your skin extended exposure to sun or heat for at least 24 hours after your Juvederm treatment.
Steps in the Wrinkle Reduction Procedure
The actual process
- If it is considered safe to use Juvederm, your doctor will assess your facial skin to customize your Juvederm treatment. Based on the severity of your wrinkles, your doctor will choose between using Juvederm Ultra XC for volumizing facial wrinkles and Juvederm Ultra plus XC for correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.
- Your doctor may take pre-treatment photographs so that you can see the immediate difference in your skin after taking Juvederm.
- As Juvederm is formulated with lidocaine, there is no need of taking any anesthetic before your treatment. If required, your doctor may use topical anesthetic to numb the area before giving injections.
- After injecting Juvederm using an ultrafine needle, your doctor will gently massage the treated areas. All it takes is 15 minutes for you to see instant results and a younger looking skin with Juvederm.
Possible Side Effects of Wrinkle Reduction Procedures
There is a chance of experiencing some pain, swelling, bruising, firmness, tenderness and temporary redness at the injection sites. However, they are all mild and moderate in nature and will disappear within a week’s time.
If there is any swelling, just apply an ice pack for some relief. However, if there is any redness or swelling, or any other symptom that worries you, inform your doctor about it. Don’t wear any makeup on the treated regions until your doctor advises you to do so.
